CADA Breakfast

CADA with Chobani Peach Yoghurt

One of my favorite things to make for breakfast is CADA.  The letters stand for coconut, almonds, dates and apple and I always top it off with some yoghurt.

I was incredibly lucky to get some Chobani yoghurt with peaches and that’s what I had for breakfast today.  It’s healthy – that’s always important, but to be honest, if it tastes like diet food, I’m probably not going to be interested.   What really works for me is that it tastes good.

I’ve read many posts on US based food blogs and a few posts from Aussie food bloggers about Chobani Yoghurt and I swear it’s turning into a cult following.   Part of the reason is that Chobani actively reaches out to food bloggers and food websites and part of the reason is that we’re all moving to eating smarter.  We still have sweet desserts occasionally but we’re actively including health-conscious dishes.  Chobani (shepherd in Greek) has fewer calories, is less sweet and it’s creamy, tangy and perfect for topping my CADA.

After I took these photos I sat outside in the morning sun and ate the whole bowl of this.  Charlie looked interested but I didn’t share.

Now about this CADA.  I’d never heard of it before I bought my Thermomix.  At the cooking class I attended before I bought mine, they made this mixture and I thought it was wonderful.  I loved the fruity, crunchy, sweet and tangy in my mouth all at the same time.  I won’t say that the CADA alone was the determining factor for buying a Thermomix because this is easily made in a food processor.  If you have never tried it and you like fruit and nuts, give it a try when you’re scrounging the pantry for something different for breakfast.

Kids love this too and with the addition of yoghurt on top, it’s a big win all around in the healthy department because you’re getting extra protein for those growing bones.  Make this mixture with fruit and nuts that you like, change the letters to whatever you enjoy.  I like the traditional but then I’m a traditional sort of person.
